Reconciliation

Starting October 11 2022 you are welcome to participate in a Calls to Action Reading Group to read through and reflect on the 96 Calls to Action.  Let us know if you are interested to participate as we gather on Zoom.

In 2021, to mark the first national day of Truth and Reconciliation, we tied orange ribbons on trees around the church property.  Once removed from the trees, over 100 of these ribbons were all stitched together to create a beautiful quilted banner.  The banner stands visibly in liturgies or meetings at St. John's to remind us of the voices of children who did not return from residential schools and the voices of missing or murdered indigenous women and girls in Canada.  The banner of orange ribbons reminds us of our commitment to work towards reconciliation with indigenous peoples of Canada.

In 2020 we screened the documentary film, "Doctrine of Discovery: Stolen Lands, Strong Hearts" at the Gorge Cinema.
