Orange Feather Project

In 2023 we marked National Truth and Reconciliation Day by preparing an art installation of over 300 cloth feathers which were installed over the archways of the church doors as a memorial to the children who did not return home.  More than 60 people participated in making this memorial.

Truth and Reconciliation Banner

Over 100 orange ribbons, once removed from trees to mark the first national day of Truth and Reconciliation in 2021, were stitched together to create a beautiful quilted banner.  The banner stands visibly in liturgies or meetings at St. John's to remind us of the voices of children who did not return from residential schools and the voices of missing or murdered indigenous women and girls in Canada.  The banner of orange ribbons reminds us of our commitment to work towards reconciliation with indigenous peoples of Canada.

Doctrine of Discovery

In 2020 we screened the documentary film, "Doctrine of Discovery: Stolen Lands, Strong Hearts" at the Gorge Cinema.
