We will mark Truth and Reconciliation Day on September 30 this year with a short service of repentance and prayer. We are preparing an art installation of orange feathers. If you are interested to make an orange feather, please contact us.
Over 100 orange ribbons, once removed from trees to mark the first national day of Truth and Reconciliation in 2021, were stitched together to create a beautiful quilted banner. The banner stands visibly in liturgies or meetings at St. John's to remind us of the voices of children who did not return from residential schools and the voices of missing or murdered indigenous women and girls in Canada. The banner of orange ribbons reminds us of our commitment to work towards reconciliation with indigenous peoples of Canada.
In 2020 we screened the documentary film, "Doctrine of Discovery: Stolen Lands, Strong Hearts" at the Gorge Cinema.
