A group of people meet over Zoom in the winter, and during the nicer weather they meet outdoors at Station Square Park on Colborne Street in Elora. This group of "Knitters and Quilters" has been meeting for over 30 years, and now it includes rug hookers, card makers, readers, and flower arrangers. In other words, you don't need to be a knitter or quilter to join. Join them on Wednesdays in Station Square Park in Elora between 10:00am and 12:00 noon. They make Prayer Shawls for people recovering from illness or grief.
Our latest project is the "St. John's Poppy Project" - an outdoor art installation of knitted and crocheted poppies to mark the centennial of the poppy as a symbol of remembrance and peace. WE HAVE BEEN OVERWHELMED BY RECEIVING ALMOST 7,000 POPPIES! A waterfall of poppies cascading out of the church tower will be on display October 25th to November 17th. This project is approved by the national poppy coordinator and the local legion. If you want to help us prepare for 2022, Poppy Patterns are available by clicking HERE.
